Barramundi 738
SQUIDGY FISH

We had a small rain this evening.
Very nice!

It was still raining while I was fishing.

I enjoyed catching a Barramundi at night time.

50cm Barramundi 737
LIBERTY LURES PITTY 75F

The sea was wavy but not too wavy.
The water was muddy in colour.

The tide was very strong.
I felt a heavy reeling against the outgoing tide.

My choice of the lure action tonight:
Pumping, pumping and pumping!

As a result,

Barramundi 736
SQUIDGY FISH

There aren't many mosquitoes in this wet season.
That's good.

However, it was thought that catching many good sized Barramundis should be relative to the incidence of a mosquito.

We need more rains.

108cm Barramundi
Mr. Big Barra's first Barramundi in 2013
Mr. Stephen Rigney

We call him 'Chinaman'.
He's 'Mr. Big Barra'.
I have good friends of some metery Barramundi catchers.
Mr. Keith Watson
Mr. Mario Clancy Faggion
Mr. Carlo Chonga Esmaquel

Mr. Stephen Rigney is a very special angler to us.
He caught 103cm, 104cm, 116cm and 102cm of metery Barramundi in 2012.

And he caught a 108cm Barramundi in January 2013.
I show you his comment (from his facebook).
Sleep deprived after my last evening shift. 2 hours sleep then off chasing the Barra. Well had a good start for this year 2013. Landed and successfully released a healthy 108cm Barra.

Location: Daly river
Reel: SHIMANO CHRONARCH
Rod: Custom L J Rods

He released this 108cm Barramundi because she's an important mother fish.
Fish less that 80 cm length are males and those greater than 80cm are females.

It's a very windy day.
The tides were good.
But the sea was very wavy.
And so I went to the mouth of the urban E creek.

I couldn't catch Barramundi here.
But I hooked two Barramundi at the very first incoming tide near here.
I couldn't land them after all but I knew some green lures were effective for Barramundi in very muddy water.

I caught a small Rockcod at the outgoing tide here. ┐(~ー~;)┌

Very bad for catching Barramundi.
Good for the land based fishing.
Rockcod 243-244
RAPALA XRD 8

Please don't misunderstand!

I've kept writing as follows,
A very windy condition isn't good for catching Barramundi.
It's very hard for catching Barramundi under the condition of the very wavy sea on the shore.

But a very wavy sea is very good for the land based fishing on the shore in the hottest season.
Of cause, Barramundi won't take lures under the condition like that.
In other words, it's very important for making a good water for the land based fishing on the shore.

If our usual monsoon rains haven't come in January yet, it'll be the hottest season.
The water temperature will be warmer and warmer on the shallow water.
Meeting the very warmer water with the small tides, our shallow water won't keep much oxygen.

A very wavy sea can help making a good water with more oxygen and muddy colour.

The sea was very wavy this evening.
The tides were very small.
I couldn't expect to catch a Barramundi.

On the other hand, I thought I still can catch some Rockcod under the condition of the very wavy sea.
If I try to catch a Rockcod as a main target, I'll catch more than 600 of Rockcod a year.
Should be very possible.
I won't.

Thank you very much.

21 Jan 2013

We often have unusual weather these days.

We often have unusual weather these days.
We had no usual monsoon rains last December.
The temperature of the shore became 40℃.
This 40℃ temperature and small tides made the uncomfortable water with less oxygen for salt water bait fish on our shallow water.

Our seasonal monsoon rains bring following factors to our land based fishing.

#1. Cloudy conditions
#2. Very wavy conditions (for making a good level of oxygen)
#3. Strongly big rains

These above factors will make cooler water conditions in the hottest season.
And so the sea water will keep a good level of the oxygen.
#3. Strongly big rains also will wash out huge quantity of mud on the shore into the sea water.
The sea water will be very muddy in colour.

Warmer water simply can not absorb as much as oxygen as colder water.
Slow water current can't keep much oxygen in the hottest season.
As water lose oxygen, this will reduce habitat for many organisms.

These above factors are very good for making a good water of our land based fishing on the shallow water because salt water bait fish will come to our shallow water after the strongly big rains. (Barramundi won't take lures under the condition of very wavy sea.)

On the other hand, #3. Strongly big rains bring too much fresh water to our salt water environment.
And so salt water bait fish will go to the deep water during and just after the strongly big rains.

That's why the best time for catching many good size salt water Barramundi from the shore in the rainy season is when we have had no rain for 24 hours.

It is thought that our usual salt water environment will come back after around 24 hours after strongly big rains on the shore.

And
Not too fast tide,
Not too slow tide,
Not very wavy water,
Not very flat water,
these above conditions should be very good for our land based fishing between Monsoon rains and Monsoon rains.

More information

Since we are in the rainy season anglers obviously have to contend with plenty of rain.
It's very hard to find fishes, crabs and aquatic insects living inshore saltwater habitats after a big rain on the land.
Such decomposing vegetation as black leaves, dead branches and dead grass washed in with rain run-off disturb our barramundi fishing very much.
The low salinity levels and dirty water put off the bait and the predators, and drive them away from where they can be easily targeted on foot.
That means it's very hard to catch barramundi on the shore around Darwin city straight after a big rain.
However, barramundi can live in both fresh and salt water.
Therefore we can catch barramundi after a big rain in purely freshwater environments.
This is because we can find bait fishes, shrimp and crayfish that live in most freshwater habitats even after rain.
It's very hard to find such a freshwater environment in the region of Darwin City.
I still fish the shore when it is rainy, but it is not the ideal time.
In my experience, the best time for catching many good-size saltwater barramundi from the shore in the rainy season is when we have had no rainy for 24 hours.

Monsoon rains
HALCO LASER PRO 45 STD

We had a very, very monsoon rains on this weekend.
That's very nice!

I went to see the water conditions on the shore.
Very thick mud was washed out into the sea by big rains.
Much oxygen was kept in the water by very wavy conditions.
The water became very muddy in colour.

Seasonally very wavy conditions are very important for our land based fishing.

It's very hard to catch Barramundi during the monsoon rains by land based on the shore.
The best time for catching many good size salt water Barramundi from the shore in the rainy season is when we have had no rain for 24 hours, but there is plenty of rain falling overall that season as above.

The sea conditions were very bad for fishing.
I gave up catching fish today.
On the other hand, I thought that it's a good opportunity for checking a very good lure.

I have thought that HALCO's lures were very good lures for the boat fishing.
But I found that HALCO has produced a very good lure for the light spinning tackles by land based on the shallow water.

HALCO LASER PRO 45 STD has a long bib.

But you can control many actions of your HALCO LASER PRO 45 STD on the 20cm - 30cm deep shallow water.
Amazing!
A very good lure can avoid going into snagging by following the water current.

Using HALCO LASER PRO 45 STD, you will think (misunderstand) that you've already had a very skilled technique of lure fishing.
You'll want to buy SHIMANO STELLA and GLoomis or ST. CROIX as soon as possible.
(*^^*)
That's the very thing a beginner of the lure fishing wanted.

But I should tell you (if you're a very beginner) not to go off half-cocked.
You need more practices.
This lure is too good!
Yes, it's a very, very good lure for the very shallow water.

I haven't caught many fish with this lure yet. v(。・・。)
