Queenfish #28
Lucky Craft B'Freeze 78

The rain last night was unexpected.
The badly undernourished land water came from the city into the sea.

It looked clean but barramundi didn't like it.

Lucky Craft Pointer78mm ( B'Freeze78) is very good for the strong water current.

Barramundi #1019
Squidgy Pro Mongrel

May 21, 2016
I went to Channel Island in the morning.
The water was clear and colder than several days earlier.
The sea surface was flat.
There were not any structures in the water because this fishing location was the mud flat.
As expected, I had no fish bites on my lures.

With night coming on, I went to Mindil Beach because there were many oyster-rocks in the water.
As might be expected, the sea water was clear, what is more, the full moon was clear.

Luckily, the sea surface was slightly wavy.
The slightly wavy sea surface moderated the wariness of barramundi that was in hiding between rocks.

Queenfish #27
Barramundi #1018
Bomber Long15A

May 14, 2016
I saw Mr. Jack Wong at Fishing Outdoor World in the morning.
He told me when I could access to the rocks in his usual fishing location.
So I went fishing there according to his instruction.
Actually, it's not an ideal tide today but still within the allowable range.

As a result, I caught a small queenfish there.

Squidgy Pro Mongrel
How to plolong the life of Mongrel

I'm a "Not rich fisherman".
I often use Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm for land based fishing in my usual fishing locations.
Mongrel is one of the best lures of my fishing life.
I caught 102cm barramundi on Mongrel 90mm Drop-Bear colour and 85cm barramundi on Mongrel 90mm Aussie Herring colour by land based.
I have caught many other barramundi on Mongrel 90mm so far.
It is enough for me to say that I'm not PR staff of Squidgies.
Not only you can catch many barramundi, but you can use it many times repeatedly by strengthening a weak part of the soft-plastic body.

It prevents the soft-plastic part of Mongrel from wearing off without taking time and without damaging the soft-plastic material.

I use these above jigheads for Mongrel 90mm.
Taking a look at how to insert a jighead in the soft-plastic body of Mongrel, I can only say it is a great method.
No skill is required in setting up Mongrel with a jighead.
This jighead and soft-plastic body of Mongrel can be easily and ideally set up every time.

In addition, in order to make the positions of eyes clear and accurate on Mongrel, you can colour the eyes with permanent markers at a market.
You will gain nothing by making the positions of eyes clear and accurate on Mongrel in increasing  bites of barramundi.
However, you will gain more certain hooking of barramundi because they aim at the eyes of their bait fish.
There are exceptions to it, however.

Dry season's Barramundi #1017
Rapala Flatrap Rainbow Trout colour for a clear water

I went to Myilly Point to fish after work.
People flocked to the seaside  because of Thursday.

The tide was coming in.
It went slowly.
I could wade in the water with time to spare.
A time period of about one hour after sunset is not good for my land based barramundi fishing.
I wanted to catch a barramundi before it got dark.
There are exceptions to it, however.

I had 10 lures in my lure-box.
I used these lures in rotation.

The sea water began to present an entirely different condition from the rainy season.
The water was clean and clear.
The sea surface was rippled.

When barramundi are very cautious, I don't use a complicated and irregular lure action.
However, I intentionally cast a lure to obstacles such as rocks in the water.
So I need a good lure suitable for a use state.

Rapala Flatrap has an ideal weight and exerts a small resistance in water and in the air, therefore the lure action and the flying distance are not disturbed.
It increases fishing results with more effective functions of lure such as colour, pattern, shape, action and casting distance.
In addition, it's a lovely wooden lure.
I'm not a spokesperson of Rapala.
It is as fine a piece of work as has not been seen for many a year.

As a result, I caught a dry season's barramundi on Rapala Flatrap.
The lure was "Rainbow Trout" pattern in colour.
I believe that it was very effective for a clear water.

Barramundi #1015-1016
Bomber Long15A
In a strong water current

Saturday, May 7, 2016

Today's tides were big.
The productive fishing window was short at a fixed fishing location today.
The best tide shifts with the best fishing point every hour.
So I moved to the next fishing spot in accordance with the water depth of the sea.
First, I went to Channel Island and caught a 50cm barramundi on a Squidgy Pro Mongrel in a calm water.
Second, I went to East Point and then caught two barramundi on a Bomber Long 15A in a strong water current.

Do you know how to use the minnow-lure in a strong water current?
I use 2-twitchings and 2-jerkings with a high gear ratio reel. Or I use 1-twitching and 1-jerking with a low gear ratio reel.
Everyone has his own method.

50cm Barramundi #1014
Squidgy Pro Mongrel
How do you choose the lure colour in a barramundi fishing?

Saturday, May 7, 2016

How do you choose the lure-colours in a barramundi fishing?
For most situations, I have my own rules.
  • Match the lure colour with the water
  • Match the lure colour with the structures in the water
  • Match the lure colour with the bottom of the sea
  • Match the lure colour with the bait
  • Try the gold or silver in colour
  • Try the chartreuse yellowish green in colour
  • Try the white in colour

By looking at the sea-water condition of the fishing location, I'll give these above works priority.
It's a rotational system operation.
That's reason why I'm a frequent lure-changer.
I know from experience that this method pays in the long run.
Everyone has his own method though.

I went to Channel Island to fish in the morning.
The sea water was clear-murky and greenish in colour.
I chose a Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm Aussie Herring.

The sea surface was calmly rippled.
Therefore, I winded the fishing reel at a constantly slow speed without any fishing-rod actions.

As a result, I caught a 50cm barramundi.

Barramundi #1012 and 62cm barramundi #1013
Bomber Long 15A Chartreuse Flash Black Back Orange Belly

Saturday April 30, 2016

I went to East Point to fish in accordance with the incoming tide early in the morning.
The tides weren't big today.
The currents caused by tides were slowly.
In addition to that, the sea water was very clear.
Moreover, the sea surface was flat.
As might be expected, the results were poor.

I went to Fannie Bay next.
The tide was still coming in.
There were many big oyster-rocks in the water.
A barramundi was hiding in the structures in ambush for their bait fish in a very clear water, particularly, when the sea surface was flat.
I used a Bomber Long 15A with the same colour as the rocks in the water that can obtain a good fishing result even from cautious fish.

As a result, I caught a small barramundi at the fishing spot in Fannie Bay.
.

Barramundi #1012 in the morning April 30, 2016

I went home once.
Afternoon turned into evening.
I went fishing in different clothes to a shallow part of the sea where there were a lot of rocks at Myilly Point.
The tide was slowly coming in.
The wind had risen and the sea surface became wavy.
The water became murky in colour.
The productive fishing window opened for an hour at that spot without moving to other spot.
For the same reason I used a Bomber Long 15A with the same colour as the rocks.
The lure action was done by jerking my fishing rod because the sea surface was wavy.
