I went to Channel Island.
Actually, yesterday I came this place.
At the first cast, I lost an expensive lure, Lucky Craft Pointer 100SP Zebra MS Aurora Gold that I bought the day before.
I bought it after Mr. Matt West (Barra Classic 2010 Champion) recommended it to me.
A nice-size barramundi struck and took it away on the first cast.
After all, I dropped two barramundi this day.

Today, my very good fishing friend, Mr. Darren Forsythe dropped two nice sized barramundi.
I also dropped a nice sized one.
However, I caught a 58cm dry-season's barramundi on a Squidgy Pro Mongrel.

70cm Barramundi as a first is awesome! Mr. Ken Whittington Rapala SXRM-10

Ken recently moved to Darwin and he is a very keen lure fisherman.
I took him to East point late on Thursday night with a full moon.
Normally, I don't willingly go fishing to the shallows on the nigh with a full moon.
Especially, when the water is very clear on the night  with a full moon, barramundi are likely to be cautious about.
However, it was slightly windy that night.
The tide was going out.

The water current was very strong.
Originally, a very strong water current should be avoided for the land based barramundi fishing.
The water was cold.
But I felt that I stood a chance against the situation that night.
I thought that barramundi would move about actively in search of food at night, and they would come to prey on bait fish into a creek because the strong water current hardly caused wariness even on the night with a full moon.

70cm barramundi as a first is awesome and definitely one to remember... Great catch!

He caught a 70cm barramundi on a Rapala SXRM-10 in a very cold and clear water.

It's the first barramundi in his life.
The water current was so strong that I taught him our local technique for a creek-fishing.

Barramundi #1025 Squidgy Pro Mongrel It is not too much to say that the land based sea-barramundi fishing depends on the wind conditions. Mr. Darren Forsythe

My land based barramundi fishing wasn't blessed by the wind condition recently.
There were a lot windy days lately.
My very good fishing friend, Mr. Darren Forsythe caught a small barramundi on a Squidgies Slick Rig / 65mm Drop Bear at Channel island on the other day.

The wind shifted and blew harder immediately after he caught the barramundi.
The strong wind came from the rear.
I could cast lures far away but the bait fish also went away from shore.
Rightly, we couldn't catch any fish after that.

It is not too much to say that the land based sea-barramundi fishing depends on the wind conditions.

It was blowing hard while I was fishing over the weekend.
I went to Myilly Point to fish but I didn't catch any fish there.
I hit upon an interesting idea then.
I thought that there were a few barramundi left behind in a saltwater-pond after the previous big tide.
So I went to a saltwater-pond after dark.
I caught and released a small barra on a Squidgy Pro Mongrel / 90mm Aussie Herring at the second cast.
I was sure he was very hungry.

Normally, nice sized barramundi are not left behind in a saltwater-pond.

By the way, a year ago July 11, a 103cm barramundi was caught by Mr. Mitsu Satto at East Point.

This result was unmistakeable signs that we can catch a nice sized barramundi even in the dry season.

70cm Barramundi on a live bait fish By my fishing friend, Clay

In July, the water temperature has settled down at a low temperature level.
It's chilly while driving a scooter in the morning.
I went to Channel Island to fish on 9th of July.

Today's tides as follows,

03:08am--1.38m
09:28am--6.97m
15:40pm--2.16m
21:16pm--6.09m
Not neap!
I think that it is good for my land based barramundi fishing in the dry season because the seawater becomes very clear at the neap tide in the dry season.
Barramundi become very cautious in a very clear water.

The tide was going out.
I hooked about 65cm barramundi on a Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm Aussie Herring, however, I lost the fish when the fish behaved violently near me.
On the other hand, my fishing friend, Clay caught a 70cm barramundi on a live bait.

Fine sized live mullet brought a 70cm barramundi to Clay.

We were also blessed with the wind condition.
It's no exaggeration to say that a lure fishing depends on the wind condition.

We enjoyed the dry season's barramundi fishing very much.

Barramundi Houses in my usual fishing locations

That is not because of the cold water season.
That is not because I have caught many barramundi in my usual fishing locations.

Some barramundi were lurking in the cavity of the rock as above.
They don't necessarily settle in the cavity of the rock.
There were many such rocks until a few years ago.
I used to call those rocks barramundi houses.

Barramundi sometimes prey on each other.
The large fish preys on the small fish.
That's reason why those barramundi have like sizes there.
I have once seen around 10 small barramundi in the cavity of the rock.

The number of barramundi has decrease in my usual fishing locations in recent years.
Especially, barramundi houses haven't been much in evidence recently.
So I fish fickle barramundi widely moving to different waters recently.

The most commonly expressed reason for this belief was the decrease of the total number of their bait fish in my usual fishing locations.
This much is certain.

There are some background factors among actually-occurred environmental changes.
The effect from it being artificially developed is not small???
The problem is not as simple as it might seem at first sight.

Our living water with earth-badly detergents and oils basically estranges their bait fish from my usual fishing locations.
However, in actual fact, the seawater quality of my usual fishing locations might have improved.
Do you mean to say the decrease of our poos in the seawater estranges their bait fish from my usual fishing locations?
Oh, dear, dear!
What shall we do?
Can you think of any reasons?
I still can't figure out that cause.

By the way, fishing barramundi becomes hard in the shallow waters at the neap tides in the cold water season because the seawater becomes much clear.
There are, indeed, exceptions.
