67cm Barramundi #1041
Squidgy Pro Mongrel
Queenfish #29
So-Run Heavy Minnow
Creek fishing

It's a sunny day during the rainy days.
The concentration of salt in sea water is on the track to recovery on shore.
However, the state of being windless in the morning near a seashore is not good for my land based barramundi fishing.
Cautious barramundi won't come to the mud-flat at Channel Island and rock-shallow at Mindil Beach.
So I went to the creek in East Point to fish this morning.

The water current was very strong.
I tried different types of lures in accordance with the situation of the water current.

A small queenfish took a So-Run Heavy sinking minnow 75mm/Naked-Flash in white.

Meanwhile the water current became slightly slower.
The volume of water in the creek was subsiding.
I used a Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm/Rainbow-Fish in white.
Mongrel narrowly aligned with the water current.

After all, I caught a 67cm barramundi on a white lure in colour again.
A white lure is effective for the sea water of a rainy season in colour.

The fishing line was very strongly pulled repeatedly by this fish.

Golden snapper #18
Trevally #47
Long tom #7
Squidgies Slick Rig
Rapala XR-8

There was too much fresh water on shore at Channel Island this morning.
It's not good for my land based barramundi fishing.
I departed there, and went to Elizabeth river boat ramp to fish for the first time.

The tide had just been rising.
I caught some fish on small white lures with a sense of play.

This place was suitable for a family fishing on lures by land based???
I didn't think so.
No such place exists in Darwin.
Bad luck.

39cm Mangrovejack #48
41cm tarpon #16
Squidgy Pro Mongrel

November 16, 2016
I couldn't expect much for catching a barramundi in my usual fishing locations because of too much water.
When the high water came, a sea water reached 8m.
The sea water ran throughout the mangroves in my usual fishing locations.
The sea water overflowed outside through the small creeks.
By this, barramundi scattered wide on shore.

In addition, it is too wavy to fish a barramundi on lures on shore in the afternoon in this season.
It is truly difficult to find a place to fish by land based, and still more difficult to fish a barramundi by land based in such a difficult situation.

I went to a saltwater pond where was not affected by the strong wind in the city.
I waded in the water.
Many snakes were slithering about on the ground in this water in March.
I didn't see any snakes this time.
It's a very dark night when the moon wasn't visible.
I used a variety of lures from which to choose in my lure-box.
A 90mm Mongrel produced two results from this trial.
A dark Mongrel in colour did good work in spite of a dark night.
I caught 38cm mangrovejack and 41cm tarpon on a dark-colour Mongrel.
I knew that mangrovejack was very good to eat.
But I released these fish into the water.

66cm and 58cm Barramundi #1039-1040
Squidgy Pro Mongrel
To synchronize the Mongrel and water current

Sunday morning.
I went to Channel Island to fish.
It doesn't advertise at all.
I used a Squidgy Pro Mongrel having a white colour that improves fishing results when fishing results are not so good since in white-cloudiness in summer or in high-water-temperature, conspicuousness degree of lures in shallow water.
I have a feeling that a barramundi will take my Mongrel while my Mongrel is swimming very well in the water if barramundi is around my Mongrel.
When retrieving a 90mm Mongrel, it's important to synchronize the Mongrel and water current for my land based barramundi fishing.
All I have to do is not to retrieve a Mongrel very slowly in the water.
When I feel that my Mongrel somehow doesn't go with the water current, I will replace my Mongrel with a hardbody-lure.

For instance, in the case of a beginner user, let's just try it.
Who cares what happens afterward?
There's no sense things too much about that.
You may lose your Mongrel, though.

The water was murky - milky in colour.
Luckily, the water surface slightly waved in the breeze.
I ran through the check-out all lure-conditions.
Finally, I was happy with a Mongrel.
As a result, I caught 66cm and 58cm barramundi.

Restaurant sized Rockcod #338
Squidgy Pro Mongrel

I went to East Point to fish after work.
I caught a restaurant sized rockcod on a Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm Rainbow Fish.
Rockcod is probably thought to be a low rated fish for eating.
Rockcod is regarded as inferior in flavor to that of coraltrout.
It is all right, somehow.
Nevertheless, deep fried rockcod with sweet and sour sauce is very delicious.
My most favorite rockcod dish is steamed fish in Hong Kong style (Cantonese style).

66cm Barramundi #1039
Squidgy Pro Mongrel
White lure in colour

Saturday
I went to Channel Island to fish by my scooter around lunch time..
Around the beginning of November, my usual fishing locations begin to be influenced by the strong wind.
And in the late afternoon the sea is up every day.
I become unable to fish on shore after work.
This condition will continue until March.
There are exceptions to it, however.
We had a sunny weather during the rainy season for the last few days.
That regained the concentration of salt in sea water on shore.
Small bait fish came back to the shallow waters.
Barramundi won't come near to the floating objects such as fallen leaves and sea weeds in the shallow water.
I cast lures while avoiding those waters.
In addition, I had to wade while avoiding stingray and stonefish.
The sea water was murky-milky in colour.
A white lure is effective for a milky water.
It's not absolutely necessary.
You can use your favorite lures as a substitute for a white lure in colour.
Barramundi will take any lures in colour when they are aggressive.
That is the way lure colours are.
Nevertheless, as far as I have experienced, to aim at the improvement of probability of catching, a white lure is effective for a milky water.
I have been mentioning the effect of a white lure since I started my fishing blog.
As a result, I caught a 66cm barramundi on a Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm Rainbow Fish.

60cm Barramundi #1038
Squidgies Slick Rig

By the way, a real beginner of the lure fishing who has never caught fish on lures often asked me where I fished and when I fished.
I understand his situation so much that it hurts.
For the period up to the his first experience in which he will catch fish on lure, he should have patience and effort to continue his fishing through difficulties.
Every skilled lure fisherman experienced it.

Luckily, we had a sunny weather during the rainy season this weekend.
There was the calm state of the sea without wind and waves which affected adversely in barramundi fishing on lure by land based.
A gentle wind made ripples on the surface of the sea for a moment.

The largest casting-distance could be obtained by using a Squidgies Slick Rig.
In addition, Drop Bear was very effective for the murky-milky water in colour in the rainy season.
By this, I could take a momentary fishing chance.
As a result, I caught a 60cm barramundi at Channel Island this morning. Lucky!
