73cm and 63cm Cold water barramundi
Mr. Matt Cook
Zerek Live Cherabin 100mm

We love cold water in our dry season!
I went fishing to Channel Island in the morning last Sunday.
I met with Cookie for the first time in three years.
Mr. Matt Cook (Cookie) caught 73cm, 63cm and some small fish on Zerek Live Cherabin 100mm with very light tackle.
He also caught a 83cm barramundi a week ago.
In contrast to him, I didn't catch any fish at that time.
But I stood and fished close to him.
Cookie has a boat.
He mainly uses his boat for crabbing.
He mainly catches barramundi by land based.
That is very likely to me.
As I have mentioned, barramundi become very cautious in clear and cold water.
By the nature of the case, special technique is used in clear and cold water.
It shows the lure as if it is real bait fish or prawn.
I saw his secret technique.
He is really good at luring.
He is a better lure-fisherman than I.

Barramundi #1069-1070
Squidgies Fish 80mm
Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm
Very clear and cold water

I went fishing to Mindil beach on Saturday of June 17.
The sea water was very clear and cold in dry season.
Just as I mentioned before, most people think we can't enjoy barramundi fishing in the cold water season.
I will dare your disagreement, and say that it is only their imagination.
Barramundi start to have a very high cautiousness in clear and cold water.
As far as I have experienced, the rolling action is more efficient than the wobbling action when I use soft-plastic lures in the very clear and cold water.
A beginner in barramundi fishing may as well know the action of large sized barramundi travelling from the shallow waters where they lived to deeper waters having stable temperature in the cold-water season.
Separately from that, we are able to see a lot of small sized barramundi in the shallow water in our dry season.
In the evening, even large sized barramundi follow schools of small fishes into shallow water in our dry season.
It depends on how you fish barramundi in the cold water season.
First, I caught a small barramundi on Squidgies Fish 80mm.

Second, I caught a 48cm barramundi on Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm.

The fishes to be an object of fishing are not so big in size, therefore, I used a very light fishing rod and very small reel.

I enjoyed the exciting lure fishing using a very light tackle.

Barramundi #1067-1068
Zerek Live Shrimp 127mm
Jagla setting
Cold water season
Video

Even though it was very windy until Sunday, it was slightly windy in the morning on Monday.
I went fishing to Mindil beach.
The sea water was very clear and cold.
Most of people think we can't enjoy barramundi fishing in the cold water season.
They are probably possessed with the motion.
The fact that barramundi are still alive in the cold water means barramundi still have to eat to live.
Most of barramundi has no lean body in the cold water season.
On the contrary, they have a fatty solid body.

In my case, it is not easy to fish on shore in our wet season because of the very wavy sea.
To begin with, I can't fish barramundi on lure on shore on a rainy day.
I prefer our dry season to our wet season in my land based barramundi fishing.
The best thing is that it is nice during the cold water season.

Barramundi start to have a very high cautiousness in a very clear and cold water.
This is the point to which we must pay particular attention.
The tendencies of the large outbreak of jelly-prawns affect fishing results.
The right barramundi fishing would result in the cold water season.
The productive fishing condition in the afternoon or in the night time is, if anything, better than in the early morning.

I caught a small mangrovejack and two small barramundi on Zerek Live Shrimp 127mm with the Jagla setting at Mindil beach in the late morning.

56cm Barramundi #1066
64cm Barramundi #1067
Zerek Live Shrimp 127mm
Jagla setting

Recently, I don't go to Channel Island to fish because of the tides.
I mainly go fishing to Mindil beach because of the tides.
I mainly use Zerek Live Shrimp 127mm using Jagla setting at Mindil beach because there are so many rocks in the shallow water.
Of cause, I am not a salesman of Zerek Live Shrimp 127mm.
Originally, Zerek Live Shrimp 127mm is very effective for the fishing in the rocky shallow water.
I won't use it without Jagla setting.
Jagla setting is very effective for my land based barramundi fishing as always.

Jagla setting provides a lure that is less likely to cause a snag and can attain a high hooking ratio.
This lure is tough and durable from a structural aspect.
This lure can obtain a good fishing result even from cautious fish.
This lure can gain a sufficient flying distance.

I have received many inquiries how to put double hook, how to insert the double hook to the tail and how to tie the double hook to the main hook.
I hope the following image helps with the Jagla setting.
I use the improved clinch knot.

After work on May 31, I went fishing to Mindil beach.
I caught 56cm and 64cm barramundi on Zerek Live Shrimp 127mm using Jagla setting again.
I returned a 56cm barramundi to see.
