51cm Barramundi #1075
Rockcod #340
Squidgies Fish 80mm
Need protective equipments

I went fishing Lee point on Sunday morning.
The tide was going out.
I waded through the shallow water to the rocks.
My spike sole got caught the oyster-rocks surface and stumbled at the time of walking.
As a result, I fell into the water.
I had experiences that I fell down and got injured  many times on the rocks.
Then, I always wear protective equipment, knee pad, elbow pad and gloves during my land based barramundi fishing.
Thanks to those protective equipments I didn't hurt myself.
The atmosphere of this accident can be seen in the video on YouTube "Land based barramundi fishing needs proper protective equipments".
Mr. Jackson Dick did the same thing at Mindil beach spot and ended up with 8 stitches.

This picture accounts for the importance of the protective equipment.

By the way,  I went to East point to fish on Sunday afternoon.
The tide was coming in.
I caught a 51cm barramundi and a rockcod on Squidgies Fish 80mm Black Gold.
The sea water was cold and very clear.

Barramundi #1074
Squidgies Fish 80mm Black / Gold

Thanks to Facebook I can see many pictures many friends took of barramundi in cold water in our dry season.
We still can catch many barramundi even in our dry season.
I believe that it is so common as to be normal now.
We can fish not only barramundi, but also bream, trevally, queenfish, tuna, Spanish-mackerel, jewfish and sailfish in our dry season.
The sea water of our dry season is normally very clear on shore.
Barramundi become very cautious in very clear water.
On the other hand, a very clear water has good aspects.
I can watch my step very well.
I can see near my feet.
It is not required that I fall down and get injured.
In addition, it is nice weather this time of year here.

I sold my 150cc scooter recently.
I have one more scooter.
My 50cc scooter is 11years old now.
The total distance driven is around 70,000km so far.
My scooter is still in great form because Mr. Callum Gamble of Arafura Moto fixed every time.

With a 50cc scooter, it takes 2hours from my place to Channel Island, therefore, I often go fishing to Mindil beach closer to where I live recently.
I went to Mindil beach to fish last Saturday again.
The sea water was cold and very clear.
I used a very light fishing tackle.
First, I caught and released a barracuda on Rapala Original F-13 Gold.
Second, I caught a barramundi on Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm Aussie Herring.
Their working circumstances are described in detail in the video "Land based barramundi fishing near town in Darwin Vol. 16" on YouTube.

Barramundi #1072-1073

As is often the case with beginners

The soft plastics are more likely to cause a snag in the case of the beginner.
I have been asked by a reader as follows.
All I'd get is snagged on the rocks. Weedless be the go?
"That is true," I will respond.

Many skilled lure-fishermen might tell him to wind the soft plastics as slow as possible.

One of them was me though.

That's why he lost his soft plastics at Mindil beach.

Mindil beach in some places is a rugged coast.
There are thousands of rocks covered with oysters in water.
Technically, Mindil is the toughest fishing location.
My winding speed of fishing line should be faster than he expected at Mindil.
My video, "Land based barramundi fishing near town in Darwin Vol. 15", will give him some idea of my winding speed of the fishing line.
http://landbasedbarramundifishing.blogspot.com.au/

In addition, I used a very fast fishing reel with 8.2 : 1 gear ratio in my video.

I should respond that he doesn't need the weedless even at Mindil.
And I can tell him this following approach.
First, he should wind the fishing line fast at the first cast of the soft plastic.
Second, he should wind the fishing line while gradually lowering winding speed with lifting the tip side while holding the fishing rod.
Finally, he will know the slowest winding speed for the fishing location at Mindil.

Barramundi #1071
Squidgies Fish 80mm
53cm Barramundi #1072
Zerek Live Shrimp 127mm with Jagla setting

The wind operates powerfully on the land based barramundi fishing both for good and evil.
I went to Mindil beach to fish on Sunday afternoon.
It was very windy.
The sea was wavy.
The height of those waves was all I could fish barramundi on shore.
I thought hopes were slim.
Still, I wanted to catch a barramundi.
I found it was difficult to catch barramundi.
When I am in trouble and need a good lure, I use a Squidgies Fish.
Squidgies Fish is a lure I can rely on when the barramundi do not bite.
As a result, I caught a very small barramundi.

Small barramundi / Sunday afternoon July 2, 2017

Squidgies Fish 80mm, Black/Gold, 1/6oz, #1/0

When it became Tuesday afternoon, the sea was slightly wavy.
I went fishing to East point after work.
The sun was quickly sinking.
I used a Zerek Live Shrimp 127mm with attracting barramundi by properly adjusting the winding speed fitting to the condition of the actual fishing spot.
There was big rocks covered with oysters in water.
I caught a 53cm barramundi.
I tried to protect a fishing line from being broken even when dragged rapidly by a nice sized barramundi.
The Jagla setting did good work again.
After all, my fishing result is up to the wind condition.
