103cm Barramundi by land based
Rapala Countdown 9
Mr. Alex Patsalides

Mr. Alex Patsalides who works for Fishing Outdoor World caught a 103cm very beautifully silver barramundi by land based recently.
Alex is my very good fishing friend.
I often use a Greek word "Yasou" to Alex because it is very familiar to me in pronunciation.
My younger brother's name in Japan is "Yasu".
As you know, I always catch and release rat-size barramundi on lure by land based in my fishing locations.
It is not rare that he caught a metery barramundi on lure by land based.
He has caught on lure by land based so far, a 123cm barramundi was the biggest one.
This time, he used a Rapala CountDown 9.
He fished from the bank of the Daly river.
The water current was strong there.
As you know, Rapala CountDown is normally a sinking-minnow-type lure.
In addition, CountDown 9 is 90mm in size.
It is easier to handle in a strong water current since the size is not so big.
Rapala said, "Sinking at a consistent rate of one foot per second, the CountDown allows you to easily target specific depths repeatedly. Whether the fish are suspended, at the weed tops or holding on bottom structure, the CountDown can get you to them consistently."
I think that I can use a Rapala CountDown 9 for my usual fishing locations too, especially for East point.
I asked Alex how to use that lure while winding.
He taught me how to wind a Rapala CountDown 9.
But that won't be taught you by me.
I'm sorry about that.
Please visit him to speak to him in person.
I think that he is in the shop of Fishing Outdoor World.

52cm Barramundi #1081
Rapala Original 130mm

Last Saturday, I ate lunch a little earlier than usual.
And then I went fishing at Mindil beach.
I walked on very slippery rocks closer to Myilly point using a walking stick made from PVC tube.
The tide was coming into the shallow water.
I am into the Rapala Original 130mm made from wood recently.
It is a very light-weight lure, so it is not easy to use on a slightly windy day.
However, Rapala Original 130mm has its big advantage of being more easily used in rocky shallow water.
Nevertheless, it is no so easy to use for beginners at the time of being a baitcast-reel.
A slightly soft fishing rod is useful when you use a light-weight lure.
So, I chose a Samaki 6'6" Line: 8-14lb as a fishing rod at that time.
This fishing rod and Rapala Original 130mm are very compatible.
This combination can provide a better method scarcely being caught on an obstacle under the water.
In that kind of meaning, Rapala Original 130mm and Rebel Classic 110mm are great lures one of the best ever made.
As a result, I caught a 52cm barramundi there.

70cm and 62cm Barramundi
Zerek Flat Shad
Mr. Keith Watson

I went fishing at East point with Keith Watson on August 7, and I went fishing at Channel Island with Keith Watson on August 13.
He caught a 52cm barramundi and a small barramundi on August 7, and 62cm and 70cm barramundi on August 13.
He is my very good fishing friend in years.
He returned after three years' absence from fishing in Darwin.
That is certainly true that I took him to my fishing locations at my favourite productive fishing windows.
It is a great mistake to think that any one could catch barramundi in that case.
In fact, despite I did my best, I couldn't catch any barramundi at those times.
In brief barramundi didn't choose my lures but Keith's lures as baits.
Matching the bait to the location is very important to him.
Matching the lure to the bait is very, very important to him.
In addition, Keith is highly skilled in accurate-lure casting.
In my case, it's a rotational system operation by using 5 or 6 lures.
My method is suitable for beginners very much.
I think that Keith is also good at reading a subsurface flow of water because he can use a light soft plastic shad proficiently.
As a result, he caught 62cm and 70cm barramundi at Channel Island on August 13.

52cm Barramundi
KO Tackle TailBaitz
Mr. Keith Watson

Last Monday was a public holiday.
I went fishing at Mindil-beach rocks in the morning.
I was standing knee-deep in the water.
The water was cold and very clear.
The tide was going out.
There were many oyster-rocks in the shallow water.
If it were usual, I use some soft-plastic lures.
But I wanted to use a hard-body lure.
I had to use a light-weight lure scarcely being caught on an obstacle under water.
So I chose to use a Rapala Original 130mm / Gold made of wood.
Rightly, I had to adjust the fishing rod to the light-weight lure.
As a result, I chose to use a 1-3kg very light fishing rod.
Fortunately, my choices paid off and caught and released five small barramundi on a Rapala Original 130mm / Gold made of wood.

After lunch, I went to East point.
I met Keith Watson (Doc) for the first time in 3 years.
The tide was coming in.
The productive fishing window was short at that point.
He just returned after 3 years' absence.
But he showed me his masterly skill in his barramundi fishing again.
As a result, he caught 52cm barramundi and one more small barramundi on KO Tackle TailBaitz.

70cm Barramundi
Zerek Live Cherabin 100mm
Mr. Matt Cook

I have sold my 150cc scooter.
My very good friend, Dave Krantz picked me up at my place.
We went fishing at Channel Island.
We waded through the shallow water to my favourite fishing location.
Soon after that, Matt Cook came there.
We call him Cookie.
He caught 73cm and 63cm barramundi there last time.
Cookie and I stood and fished side by side.
The water was cold and clear in our dry season.
I used some of my favourite lures.
Cookie used a Zerek Live Cherabin 100mm.

Zerek Live Cherabin 100mm he was using was similar to Jelly prawn.

His technique is a rank up.
I thought that he pursued technique that utilizes the behaviour of Jelly-prawn.
As a result, he caught a 70cm very beautiful barramundi in colour.

He used a 20lb braid line as a mainline and a 45ld mono line as a leader line.
He is a better barramundi fisherman than I.

The Cookie's technique can be seen in the video on YouTube "Land based barramundi fishing near town in Darwin Vol. 19".
