Barramundi #995
Squidgies Fish
Saltwater culvert

It will have been raining two weeks tomorrow.
I couldn't expect this weather.

The sea was rough again today.
The sea water was muddy.
Normally, you would rather stay home than go out in this weather to fish.
However, there were some lulls in the rain for two days.
I went fishing to a saltwater culvert when it stopped at night.
The tide was full around 9:00pm.
21:07pm - 7.37m
The water depth of that culvert was getting shallower because of the deposition of sand and mud inside a water channel in recent years.
In addition, there were many obstacles to barramundi from swimming in the culvert.
It was difficult for a nice sized barramundi to swim through the culvert.
The water surface was flat.
Originally, the flat surface of the water should be very bad for fishing.
There was no moon light.
There were some very weak fish-strikings in the dark.

My fishing reel was very small in size tonight.
My fishing rod was very thin too.
I reduced the drag-force to the limits.
First, I hooked an about 50cm barramundi but couldn't land him.
That was just unlucky.
Finally, I caught a small barramundi in the culvert.
Of course, I released him in the water.
The mosquitoes were not terrible tonight.
That was very lucky.

59cm Barramundi #994
Zerek Live Cherabin

I promised to see a photographer at 5:00pm at Alexander lake on this day.
I went to the rocks of East Point to fish after photographing.
It was windy but the sea surface was not very wavy.
The tide was coming.
The sea water was dirty.
The water current was strong.

Thunder was sounding from far away first.
I waded in the knee deep water.

Zerek provides a nice lure so improved that a fishhook of the lure is scarcely caught by an obstacle and the lure is prevented from being missed and efficiently used in fishing.
It can be cast toward the difficult rocks without hesitation.

Light fishing rod and reel make it possible to make the most of the effectiveness of the lure-action in the water.
This method can provide a lure which finely vibrates in water and arouses the interest of a fish.
I used a very thinly light fishing rod and small fishing reel as follows,
Rod: ST.CROIX AVID/AVS66LF2 4-8LB 1/16-1/4oz. Fast action
Reel: Shimano Sustain 1000FG
In addition, I used a very thin line system.
Just as I thought, the lure performed very well.

I used a lure-technique called {stop and go}.
Soon, the fish took my lure.
It could not easily be operated because I could not give a strong operation force to the fish.
In other words, I could enjoy a very strong drawing by a fish.
As a result, I caught a 59cm nice barramudi.

The green was effective in a muddy water in colour.

Barramundi #993
Squidgies Fish
Saltwater culvert

It's too late to fish a nice sized barramundi at the saltwater culvert.
The tide was getting smaller.
I should have come this culvert the day before yesterday to fish.
An old crab cage was left at the waterside.
I fished a small barramundi on a Squidgies Fish.

70cm City Barramundi
YO-ZURI SS MINNOW
Mr. Ben Maunder

We have some big tides in December.
I wrote the fishing-theory about the big tide repeatedly.
The big tide has a very strongly fast water current, therefore, the sea changes quickly from one state or condition to another in my fishing locations.
That is reason why the productive fishing windows are narrow and short in the big tides.
We cannot remain longer in the same fishing location in the big tides.
It depends on how you look at it!
The best tide shifts with the best fishing point every hour.
We should move the next fishing location in accordance with the situation of the tide.

I couldn't catch a nice sized barramundi in the day time on Sunday.

There was a high tide around 8:00pm.
I got to see the situation of some creeks and culverts in the city by my old 50cc scooter.
In the dark I met a very good fishing friend of mine.
I fished together with Ben Maunder so many times before.
He is really good lure fisherman by land based.
He can wade through the shallows in the dark.
Ben had a 70cm fat saltwater barramundi with him.
He fished 10barramundi in these high tides of these tow or three days.

70cm barramundi was caught by Mr. Ben Maunder.

Barramundi #992

Big tide

December 13, Sunday

01:09am - 2.57m
06:39am - 6.62m
13:20pm - 0.86m
19:54pm - 7.43m

I went fishing to the Channel Island in the morning.
It took one hour from my place by my 150cc scooter.
The water current was strongly fast because the tide was big.
So barramundi wouldn't take my lures positively.
After all I had one fish striking on my lure.
As a result, I caught a very small barramundi.

Barramundi #991
Zerek Live Cherabin
Neap tide

I often get asked questions about the tide for fishing by various people.
Please do not misunderstanding.
I only write it about a saltwater barramundi fishing  by land based here.
I am not very knowledgeable about other fishing.
I just pursued fishing that utilizes the behavior of saltwater barramundi on shallows.

Which tide would be best, neap tide or spring tide?
Either is fine for me.
Normally, I can't take time for fishing in the daytime of the week days because I work.
I go fishing within a time limit just like you.

Each tide has its own characteristics in barramundi fishing.
There are advantages and disadvantages with each.
I developed my own theory because I want to spend as much time with barramundi as possible.

It was the neap tide on Saturday.
The productive fishing windows were widely long.
I could stay at the same fishing point for two hours.
It is an ideal tide for catching a saltwater barramundi by land based on shallows.
Dark clouds were gathering.
The sea surface was very slightly wavy.
Barramundi would take lures positively.
There were some good strikings on my lures.
In the mean time, the rain came on.
Soon, I caught a small barramundi on Zerek Live cherabin.
The sound of rain on the sea surface was too noisy for barramundi to notice my lures.
I had felt no striking from barramundi since.

The 990th barramundi
57cm Barramundi #990
Maria MJ-1 S110F

Today's tides were big.
The water current was strongly fast and moved at high speed.
I couldn't stay through a long period of time at the same fishing point.
That means that the productive fishing window was short.
Barramundi wouldn't take lures positively under the condition like this.
I know that they can't take lures very well in the strong water current.
By watching the shape of the tail-fin, they should be inferior to Queen-fish in swiftness.
I had to match my lure-action with their timing.
I chose a Maria MJ-1 S110F.
Maria MJ-1 S110F is a very effective lure for the land based barramundi fishing on our shallows.
MJ-1 has a long flight distance and was able to fly easily, even against the wind.
In addition,  MJ-1 swims in the strong water current very well.
MJ-1 was the perfect lure for that condition.
The sea water was clear - murky.
The sea surface was rippled.
That's reason why I chose chrome in colour.
After all, I had a bit of good luck.
As a result, I caught a 57cm urban saltwater barramundi.

Barramundi #989
ZEREK Live cherabin

It was not a very good day for fishing a barramundi by land based today.
Today's tides were big.
So the water current was strongly fast.
That means that the productive fishing windows were short.
Therefore, there wouldn't be many chances for me to meet barramundi today.
To make matter worse, the moon was at the full tonight.

I went to a saltwater culvert (small creek?) to fish before the full moon raised tonight.
I waded through the knee deep water and cast a Zerek Live cherabin.
As a result, I caught a small barramundi.
