How to make a sashimi of sea-barramundi?

There were some short fish-bites on my lures but I haven't caught a barramundi since August 27.
Barramundi are traveling to seek the large outbreak of jelly prawn.
That is not an exception this year too.
It's not as if there are not barramundi in my usual fishing locations.
The absolute number is small in my usual fishing locations in September.
My very good fishing friends, Rommel Pineda and his brother still hooked some barramundi on live mullets at East Point recently, but they couldn't land them.
Barramundi are very cautious in my usual fishing locations now.
On the other hand, some people still caught barramundi at other places in September.
It's very difficult for me to go fishing to those places by my scooter.

By the way, I want people to enjoy the barramundi's sashimi, some people may not like raw fish.
It may be good chance for them to try barramundi's sashimi.

Dipping a live sea barramundi whose throat is just cut off in the clean seawater for 10 minutes to 20 minutes can improve  and retain the freshness and meat qualities of live sea barramundi.

Retaining freshness of fish, the esky is essential and the fish should be kept in ice.

You should use the very clean cutting board and knife having no problem on a sanitary aspect.
To prevent food poisoning make sure fish is very clean.

The fish is filleted into three piece.
The very important thing is not to wash filets too much.
You must give the filets a very quick wash with a cold water.
Otherwise, you will lose essential deliciousness required for sashimi.

I caught a 59cm barramundi and then I prepared sashimi within that day.
But I don't eat that sashimi within that day.
I let it stand overnight in fridge to obtain the better texture, to fit the tastes for sashimi.

I put a Kewpie roasted sesame dressing on sashimi with spring onions.

I've never seen any parasites in the sea barramundi in my life because I have never eaten equal or above 80cm barramundi.
A large fish is going to have those parasites.
I enjoy barramundi's sashimi very much every time.
I'd say you can't be too careful.

59cm Barramundi #1029
Squidgies Paddle Tail
Jelly Prawn season in August

It comes to be this season this year too.
It's a mackerel time!
Unfortunately, I have no boat.
On the contrary, I have no car.
'Not rich fisherman' went to Channel Island by the scooter to fish.
My scope of fishing activities doesn't expand.

Normally, it's very difficult to catch barramundi in my usual fishing locations, Mindil beach, Fannie bay and East point from the middle of August to the beginning of October every year.
I thought that it's very strange.
At last I have probably solved the puzzle.
I have no proof, but there is no evidence to the contrary also.

The large outbreak of jelly prawn responding to rise in seawater temperature might occur in the convenient locations for jelly prawn.
I think that barramundi are traveling to seek for jelly prawns in that jelly-prawn season.
Jelly prawns appear several times a year.
This is a good example of symbolizing that the large outbreak of jelly prawns occurs responding to rise in seawater temperature after rainfalls in February, March and April.
Some of them come to my usual fishing locations in April.

Actual jelly prawns are very small in size.
Squidgies Prawn Paddle Tail 80mm Cloud could be seeming larger that it actually is, however, it was very effective for that situation at Channel Island.
Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm is usually used for catching barramundi, however, it has a difficult time with that jelly-prawn season.

Barramundi won't take it positively in that jelly-prawn season.

As a result, I caught a 59cm barramundi.

The tides on Saturday 27, 2016 as follows,
00:42am--5.59m
06:41am--3.65m
12:08pm--5.11m
19:47pm--2.34m

There was a high possibility that barramundi won't take lures from 00:42am to 12:08pm.
There was a once-in-a-day chance, I can only fish just after sunset.

My daughter's gold-fish

My daughter did gold-fish scooping at the festival when she was 5 years old.

Do you know about the scooping gold-fish game?
It's a game played in Japan in which one tried to catch gold-fish with a delicate net made of paper.
Those gold-fish can be brought back.

My daughter is 16 years old now.
From this, it follows that those gold-fish are 10 years old or more.
There's no doubt this period feels long to my daughter.
I felt that time in the blink of an eye.

This is a gold-fish called 'wakin'.
He has an eye disease called cataract.

This is a type of gold-fish called telescope gold-fish.
He also has a cataract.

The medicine for treating cataract and the gold-fish food

I suppose I could say that they are well grown.

70cm Barramundi in the last part of August
Mr. Clint Jebbink

It becomes hard to catch a barramundi around my usual fishing locations at this time of year.
The rise in seawater temperature holds to October.
It is hard for me to catch a barramundi around my usual fishing locations during this period.
On the other hand, it's the best time for catching nice sized mackerels, though.
But I have no boat.
Various barramundi from small to large might move to seek their baits to other locations.
Having a huge outbreak of jelly prawns, barramundi often move there.
However there is no evidence so far to prove that.

Meanwhile, Mr. Clint Jebbink continuously caught nice sized barramundi by land base.
He is a very skilled fisherman who has caught 133cm and 131cm barramundi.
I asked him about that.

Hi Hiro.
A 15 minute drive from karama gets you to the creek area.
Look for dirty water colour change cause the bait holds there to hide but the barramundi can ambush too.
No hits in the clean water.
Used a small soft vibe called lucky strike, in a colour I call paper-fish cause it's fully see through. That's what they were eating.
Either side of low tide.
Rod tip held high cause very shallow.
Constant retrieve cause the paper fish don't dart around like mullet, they shimmy at the same speed.

Full moon nights
Rock cod #337
ZEREK Flat Shad

I went to East Point from Saturday to Tuesday to fish.
So I walked through a long mangrove-path in the dark.

The moons were nearly full and shining brightly.
The water currents were moderate.
The waters were very clear.
The sea surfaces were flat.

Barramundi normally become very cautious under the conditions as above.
Moreover, it was thought that the explosive noise of the jet fighters made the sea surface panes treble slightly.
I didn't have any bite of a fish on my lures in most of my fishing time.
This bite of a fish happened just once.

Unfortunately, I didn't catch a barramundi.
As a result, I caught a rockcod on a ZEREK Flat Shad.
That is to say, it turned out that my fishing-theory wasn't wrong.

66cm Barramundi #1028
Squidgy Pro Mongrel

Saturday, I went to Channel Island to fish by my 150cc scooter.

The tides
02:41am--1.11m
08:29am--7:25m
14:37pm--1.71m
20:20pm--6.57m

I waded through the shallow water to get the chance to catch a barramundi.

It was a moderate breeze, coming from the sea to the land.
The water was slightly murky.
It needed a bit of courage when I waded through the shallow water.
I sometimes dragged in a deep mud.
But somehow, I managed to stagger to the mud flat as a destination.

It occurred to me.
Some people will be curious to hear about the tide.
Some people said the full moon effect the fishing very much.
I wonder if they mean that the very bright moon light effects the fishing very much, or the tides at the full moon effects the fishing very much.
They need not have worried about the full moon so seriously in regards to barramundi.
It depends on places and circumstances.
The best tide shifts with the best fishing point every hour.
Moreover, not everything works according to theory.
However, planning out the fishing strategy is beneficial for your future fishing results.

As a result, I caught a 66cm dry-season's barramundi on a Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm Aussie Herring.

Barramundi #1027
Rapala XRD-10
Strong water current

The convenient period for the land based barramundi fisherman to fish a sea barramundi is from April to October, but you may think that it is very strange, we haven't caught many barramundi in the period from the middle of August to the beginning of October.  We could catch a sea barramundi on shore in the case the water temperature is almost stable even if the water temperature is low.  On the other hand, the inconvenient period is from November to March because normally, the sea is very wavy on shore.
We differ from the boat fishermen who fish in tropical bays, estuaries and rivers.

The tides today
05:11am--6.5m
11:14am--2.89m
16:42pm--5.83m
23:32pm--1.22m

It's a very dark night!
I walked through the mangroves by myself while thinking about ZOMBIE having a crocodile skin.
I went to East Point to fish.
The water was very clear and going out.
The water current was very strong.
Rapala X-Rap is very effective for a strong water current.
Twitch-twitch-jerk!
I caught a dry-season's barramundi finally.
